The North Fame (Coppercap) occurrence is located on an unnamed east-flowing tributary of Gaspard Creek, approximately 6 kilometres north of Gaspard Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by tonalite of the early Cretaceous Mount Alex Plutonic Complex, calcalkaline volcanic rocks of the early Cretaceous Spences Bridge Group and overlaying basaltic volcanic rocks of the Miocene to Pleistocene Chilcotin Group.
The occurrence encompasses several related showings composed of quartz vein breccias and stockworks associated with northwest- and northeast-trending lineaments in kaolinized, andesitic volcanics and granodiorite.
The Gas 1 showing is a 250 by 150 metre area of kaolinized granodiorite with disseminated pyrite and auriferous quartz veins. In 1989, samples assayed up to 0.85 gram per tonne gold (Property File - B. Bowen [1989-07-01]: Summary - Gaspard Lake Property).
In 2010, the area under the Coppercap claims was prospected by B. Johnson. This work led to the discovery of anomalous copper-bearing sub-outcrop and outcrop. Samples of mineralized hornblende diorite returned values of up to 9497.0 parts per million copper, 14.4 parts per million silver and 15 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 32386).
In 2011, Strongbow Exploration Inc. completed a program of prospecting and stream geochemical surveys on the area. Nine rock samples of gossanous quartz veins or altered volcanic rock were collected. Alteration is typically represented by moderate limonite, variable kaolinite and/or sericite, and patchy silica. Quartz veins are rusty and drusy and contain fine-grained sulphides, typically chalcopyrite and chalcocite. These samples returned the best values: 119.4 parts per billion gold, 0.15 per cent copper, 283 parts per million lead, 148 parts per million zinc, 1401.4 parts per million arsenic and 816.1 parts per million antimony (Assessment Report 32584).
